SEND advocacy for families and young people

You do not have to face the meeting alone.

When your child’s needs are not being understood, a conversation with school, college or the local authority can feel like a lot to carry. I can help you prepare, speak up and leave knowing what was agreed.

Sometimes that means one hour to plan. Sometimes it means having me alongside you at a meeting or mediation.

Tell me what is happening

A brief initial enquiry is free. A one-hour consultation is £66.

Does this sound familiar?

When the conversation is going in circles.

You know something is not working, but it is hard to pin down what needs to change. You might leave a meeting with lots of kind words and no clear action, or find that a written account does not match what you remember. We can turn your concerns into specific questions and practical next steps.

School or college is not meeting your child’s needs

We can look at what is happening day to day, what support was promised and what you want the meeting to achieve.

You need a clearer conversation with the local authority

I can help you organise the history, documents and questions so the important points are heard.

There is a mediation or difficult meeting ahead

We can prepare your priorities and evidence, and agree how you would like me to support you on the day.

Practical support alongside you

A better prepared meeting can make a real difference.

  1. Before: find the point of the meeting.

We can ask for an agenda, choose the key questions, gather useful evidence and decide what a helpful outcome would look like.

  2. During: keep the discussion useful.

I can attend with you, help explain your concerns, ask for clarity and gently bring the conversation back to the issues and actions when it drifts.

  3. After: make sure there is a record.

I can take notes of the discussion, decisions, actions, names and dates. You can use that record to check what was agreed and follow up in writing. If a point is disputed, we can identify it clearly.

Your voice stays central

I am there with you, not instead of you.

“I know what is wrong. I just cannot get anyone to listen.”

That is a common place to start. I will listen first, help you decide what matters most and work in the way that suits you. You can do much of the work yourself and ask me to help with one conversation, or involve me more fully.

I cannot promise what school or the local authority will agree to. I can help you arrive prepared, ask the questions that matter and leave with clearer next steps.

One useful thing to try now

Go in with three clear points.

Write down what is happening, what evidence or examples show it, and the action you want agreed. Send your questions or agenda points in advance if you can. At the end, ask who will do what and by when.

A question to take into the room

“What support will be put in place, who will arrange it, and when will we review whether it is working?”

As much support as you need

We agree the work and price first.

Tell me what is coming up and share any important dates. I can be flexible in my support, from planning a meeting to attending with you and preparing minutes.

Questions families ask

A little more clarity.

Can you come to a meeting even if my child does not have an EHCP?

Yes. We can talk about what support is being provided, what is not working and what you would like to ask for. An EHCP is not a requirement for a useful conversation.

Can you take minutes?

I can take a clear note of what I hear, including agreed actions and timescales. This can help you follow up and keep a record. My notes are not automatically official minutes agreed by everyone, so it is sensible to share a written summary and ask for any corrections.

Can you support me at mediation?

Yes, depending on my availability and the situation. We can prepare the issues and evidence beforehand, agree my role and confirm the work and cost. Mediation has its own process, so we will check the arrangements for your meeting.

What if I only want help preparing?

That is fine. A consultation can be enough to organise your questions, ask for an agenda and decide how to follow up afterwards.

Let us make the next conversation count.

Tell me what has happened, who the meeting is with and when it is. We can work out what support would actually help.
